In fact, we offer so many valuable services that we probably couldn’t even list all of them off right now.
We’re going to narrow it down, however, and briefly focus on one of our plastic surgery services in today’s post: blepharoplasty. Some of you might not be familiar with the term, and that’s why we’re going to touch on what blepharoplasty is and how it can help you achieve your desired image. Let’s take a look!
What It Is
Blepharoplasty is a surgery that includes repairing droopy eyelids by removing excess skin, muscle, and fat. Your eyelids, eyebrows, and other features around your eyes are central facial features and often the first point of contact that you have with others.
In other words, your eyes can make the natural aging process very visible due to excess fat and skin tissue accumulating just below your eyes. What blepharoplasty does is aims to make you look and feel younger by addressing this point of facial contact.
More On The Problem
These fat pockets, or sagging skin below your eyes, are often referred to as ‘bags,’ in which people might say, “You have bags under your eyes, you must be tired! Did you get enough sleep last night?” Even worse than making you look older, severely sagging skin around your eyes can actually impair your peripheral or side vision, creating further complications in the future. Blepharoplasty aims to reduce or entirely eliminate this vision impairment.
How Is Blepharoplasty Performed?
We won’t go into extreme detail (to see real patient results, click here), but blepharoplasty is usually done on an outpatient basis. Typically, blepharoplasty can be done with either a lower eyelid lift or an upper eyelid lift.
In the case of a lower eyelid lift, your friendly cosmetic surgeon at Wright Surgical Ars will remove and/or reposition the excess skin and fat beneath your eyes in order to restore your youthful appearance. Overall, this procedure is minimally invasive and only requires a local numbing agent instead of general anesthesia.
In the case of an upper eyelid lift, which is also a minimally invasive procedure, your excess skin and surrounding tissue are removed from above your eyelids, thereby improving the appearance and functionality of your eyes. It’s a win-win, really.
