Laser Skin Resurfacing
The Alma Pixel Laser System – What Do We Use It For?
Pixel lifts away years from your face, neck, chest and hands, and stimulates new collagen to grow. It improves your skin’s texture and tone to fight fine lines, wrinkles, and even acne scars. You’ll see dramatic improvement in the tone and texture of your skin.
Many patients choose Pixel because it:
– Clears sun-damaged skin
– Smoothes fine lines and wrinkles
– Shrinks the appearance of pores
– Fills in acne scars
– Blends uneven pigmentation
– Improves skin texture
How Does Pixel Work?
Pixel works by creating thousands of microscopic perforations, but the skin around each of these perforations remains intact. This allows your skin’s top layer to heal from the edge of these tiny holes very rapidly, which significantly improves your complexion. In more detail, the Pixel laser light passes through patented optics to penetrate the skin with tiny thermal channels, only as deep as a few sheets of paper. In each channel it creates a micro-injury, without disturbing the surrounding tissue. These micro-injury sites start the process of healing. As collagen remodels, skin tightens and scars improve offering you the chance to look younger, healthier and let your inner radiance free. The intact, undamaged skin around the treatment site is what promotes quicker healing for a faster recovery. In other words, Pixel can help transform blotchy, spotted and pockmarked skin into the radiant glow of one’s youth. The skin regains elasticity with a quicker renewal process, and improves texture and tone.
Pixel treatments are safe and effective and it usually takes less than one hour. Anesthetic cream is applied 20 minutes before the procedure for patient comfort. The procedure itself is performed with a Zimmer machine (cooling). After the procedure you can expect your skin to be flushed and red, similar to a sun burn. These symptoms are a normal part of the healing process and will improve gradually.
Am I a good Pixel candidate?
Anyone whose skin shows signs of aging or acne scars is a candidate for Pixel. We recommend you to book a complimentary consultation where your skin will be analyzed and we will guide you to get the best results.
How many treatments do I need?
We recommend a series of 2-4 treatments (depending on skin indications and desired results) usually at 4 week intervals.
Pixel is often bundled with other light-based therapies to achieve optimum results, including: Photo-rejuvenation, Chemical Peels and other skin tightening procedures.
Does it hurt?
There is little or no discomfort during the treatment. Most commonly, clients feel some slight warmth with the pulse of the laser. Clients experience a sun-burn like sensation afterwards (3-4 hours) that is easily neutralized with a gentle moisturizer. There is minimal healing time, usually lasting only three to five days.
